Washington State Competition
In May, regional advancing teams attend the state competition along with their teachers, parents, and center coordinators and directors. The students participate in mathematics challenges, design engineering, and scientific research presentations.
Fostering collaboration with Washington State’s rich community of scientists and engineers, MESA students will showcase their talents for future careers in STEM fields. In the Prosthetic Arm Challenge (PAC), students will compete with a technical paper and an oral and poster presentation. The winner of the PAC will compete in the National MESA Challenge.
National Engineering Competition
MESA Day USA is a three-day event with participation from MESA Centers across country. Students from Arizona, California, Colorado, Maryland, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, and Washington along with teachers, parents, and MESA coordinators will compete in an engineering design challenge.
In addition to helping students develop valuable learning, team management, communication, and leadership skills, the national event provides an opportunity for MESA USA members to share and expand strategies that work. It also allows the MESA programs to share resources and provide industry sponsors with the highest return on their investments.
MESA Day events are open to the public, although only MESA students from middle and high schools can participate and compete.
